A trip to Lucketts

If you live in the DC area, and you have never been to Lucketts, Virginia, you must go some weekend. It's actually one of my favorite places to go. It is such an adorable little town with lots of adorable antique stores, restaurants, and general stores. I went this past Saturday looking for something specific, and of course I found a few other fun items I wanted to share with you.
I loved this headboard. I'm not crazy about the scrolling at the top, but the headboard itself is incredible. And maybe painted a bright yellow if using it for a kid's room, or keep it the black for yourself. I loved it. That trellis pattern is one of my favorites. This mantle was awesome. It was very expensive, but the thing about the Old Lucketts store is, you can find something that is super expensive, and then find the exact thing for cheap simply because they are all different vendors that sell there.

So, if you do not have a fireplace in your home, get one of these. They sell tons there and range anywhere from $40 to $300. It all depends on the detailing. You can mount it to your wall, and people are now filling in the actual fireplace part with mirrored glass or simply painting it a matte black.

Here is an example: This room below was decorated by designer, Eddie Ross. He found the mantle at a flea market. Then went and bought a mirror at Lowe's. (the $9 ones that hang on the back of the door) Then He took it to a glass shop and had the mirrors cut 3 ways to fit the opening. This way is cheaper if you already have the mirror. But, you can go to a glass shop and they will provide the mirror and cut the glass for you if you want one big mirror fitting the space, as opposed to 3 smaller ones. It will just be a little bit more expensive.
Some people may think a fake fireplace is pointless, but it really does add to a room. And let's be honest, the fireplace is all about the Christmas decorations! So, if you have a fireplace, that is great. If you don't have one, this is a really fun alternative, and inexpensive! If you live in the area, both Reston Glass and Sterling Glass are great places to go if you need glass or mirror cut to a particular size. I loved this old wine rack at Luckett's.
Rustic table for $40.
chandelier for baby's nursery? so sweet!
Another fireplace. This one was only $50! I already have a fireplace, but a little temted to buy one and put it in my basement.
I bought this cute vintage frame for $15. I'm not completely sure what I am going to do with it, but it will be cute. :)
Turqoise door. The possiblities with this one are endless!
Click here to see the Old Luckett Store website. It's also a really fun place to go for a little outing with your family. :)
