A Winner & Another Rocking Chair Makeover

I just want to take the time and thank you for the sweet comments, emails and FB messages about "Me and My blogging situation". I know a lot of bloggers struggle about the time they invest in their blog and if it's "worth it". I have decided not to stress about it and do projects and posts on my own time. If it happens to be everyday then great if it's just once a week or month then that's just fine as well. Blogging is supposed to be fun and I intend to keep it that way. :)

So the other day, I surprising got a creative streak in me and I finally did a makeover. It seems like forever since doing one of these. LOL Maybe I forgot how to do one, it's been so long...Just like riding a bike.

I'm excited to show you the transformation today! It's another Free one!

This rocking chair has some past to it...my mom cleaned out her basement and gave it to me quite awhile ago. She was going to give it away but I wanted it! This rocking chair has been at my house growing up for as long as I can remember. As you can tell by the lovely blond wood that it dates back to late 1970's-early 80's. Nothing real special about the piece except memories.

Well it's been sitting in my basement for quite awhile waiting for it's makeover...

And Here it is today!

I first wanted to add a little detail to the piece. So I bought a decorative wood applique...which I actually got free because I had a store rebate to use. :)

I applied it to the top with gorilla glue. These appliques are a little flexible so it was able to bend with the arch of the chair. I took a nail gun and nailed in some small brad nails to keep it secure. Very easy.

I then painted the entire chair 2 coats of black paint I already had.

I painted the decal white and also around the very little detail the chair had in the legs. It just gives it a little extra something than just a plain black chair.
