Frankly....

Cute As Buttons! - thank you Channel 9

.... in my humble opinion, Katrina and Amie's room was the best by a 'country mile' (excuse the pun).

I am referring to the 'Room Reveal' episode of 'The Block' last night, on Channel 9.

Katrina and Amie's Room

Loved the consistency, use of repetition (vases, prints) and symmetry. Loved the 2 accent colours - very 'now' and only 2, easy on the eye, picking up the 2 colours in the prints too....  attention to detail! Loved the metallic curtains - very luxe, tied in beautifully with the bedside stools (loved the stools!). Great choice of lights - highlighting the exquisitely high ceilings (13 - 14 ft?). And I loved the exposed bricks... edgy, raw, complementing the cedar window and rustic, textured carpet.

Contemporary with an urban industrial 'kick'. Consistent, serene, inviting. Hey, and a perfect wall stripe... gotta love that painter's tape girls! Oh and the bedhead... well what can I say. A winner.

Gush, gush. Boy I was nervous for you girls last night. You did us proud!!!!

Loving this show. Creates wonderful discussion... everywhere.... even at the supermarket checkout. Can't wait to see what's in store for us next week!

Boys Rooms

One of my readers, Lisa, is looking for inspiration for decorating her son's room. She loves industrial accents.

Here are a few rooms that I love, that I have in my files.

Have you any other links that you have found in your travels that you can share with Lisa?

Lisa, you are going to have to work out how to comment on blogs now!

Bricks And Stuff

Image Courtesy Anthropologie - love the whole vignette.

Ok, I think I have been seriously bitten by this 'industrial bug'.... I'm starting to drool over exposed brick walls... and cage lights and what not.... who'd have thought.

And not just in rustic, earthy tones either.....

Just love it. I find myself pouring over real estate listings in the southern states, dreaming of how I would rip out walls and expose bricks. You have such beautifully boned houses you 'southerners'.

Speaking of southern states, I was meant to be heading to Melbourne this week.... but there is this Chilean ash cloud that is grounding flights left, right and centre. Now I am reading that the Qantas grounding of flights was all just a big publicity beat up to improve their public image wrt safety. One can't make a travel decision reading the newspapers that's for sure. I might have to wing it later on in the week. I'll let you know. We could meet for coffee in some cosy little coffee shop somewhere.

Back to the bricks... do you like or loathe? I think if they are done well they can be a stunning feature in a home....especially in a heritage home.

I'm off to do 'rug stuff' today for a customer. Every day is different.

Happy Tuesday!
